Hello. I had a question to ask. On the Remington 1100 shotgun there is a small brass pin about 3/16ths - 1/4 inch in diameter on the left side of the forearm just to the rear on the tightening knob. It is only on the left side of the forearm and it does not go all of the way through the forearm (and out the other side). I can not figure out what that is for. When I look as the 1100s on the website, there is no specific type of gun that has these. So, I am asking, what is that small brass pin for? Thanks for any replies.

I'm no expert but that looks like a small chip in the finish to me. Don't know why is appears yellow?
My 1100 does not have such a mark/pin.
Okay. I found out what it was. On the Remington 1100s, they had a problem with the forearms cracking because they are so thin. So they ran a brass screw through the forearm- just short off going all the way through it. Then Remington, cut the head off of the screw an sanded/ground it down flush. That gave it more strength. Some have the screws- some don't. Good luck.
I had to chuckle when I saw this. I wondered the same thing when I had my wood 11/87 lol. I sold it a few years ago for some stupid reason. It was hands down the best bird gun I ever owned. I was fortunate enough to buy one in Bottomland Camo yesterday from by buddy who owns a local gun store for $370 in very good condition.
